The weather couldn't have been better for the visit of HRH Prince of Wales, when he visited Jubilee Pool on 18th July.
The event at Jubilee Pool was a truly fabulous day for all the local people, project partners and local stakeholders who've supported the Friends of Jubilee Pool's ongoing aim of ensuring the pool plays a leading role in the renaissance of Penzance. It was obvious that our special guest HRH The Prince of Wales enjoyed it too! He met many of the team behind the renovation project and many regular pool users.
As a direct result of the visit the pool was featured across all the national newspapers the following day and local TV and Radio covered the event. The resultant publicity and media exposure was priceless, and brought news of the pool's existence to audiences across the world. Many papers featured the image below!
Since it opened in May 2016 over 40,000 people have paid to swim at Jubilee Pool. Alderman Tregenza spoke at the original opening back in 1935 and said 'What better investment could we make than in the happiness, health and wellbeing of the people of our town, and of those that choose to visit us'. We hope you'll agree this sentiment has stood the test of time.
If you're not a member of The Friends of Jubilee Pool please consider joining us. The pool will always need community and wider support to ensure it survives, but it will always act as a great amenity for locals, a tourist attraction, an iconic modernist building and above all a catalyst for the future regeneration of our beautiful town.
