Jubilee Pool Café
The popular Jubilee Pool Café operates as a social enterprise with all profits reinvested for the future of the pool. We have a large indoor area which is ideal even when it's windy and wet!
Jubilee Pool Café is now closed until May 2019.
About the Café
There is a large covered seating area with shelter from the weather in the winter and shade from the sun in summer. It's fitted with heaters for the winter season and on fine days there's lots of space on our outside terrace with panoramic views over the pool, St Michael’s Mount and across Mounts Bay to Newlyn.
The Café was totally refurbished for the 2017 summer season with new staff, menus, kitchen and most importantly, now operated wholly for the benefit of Jubilee Pool. Our aim is to raise money to keep the pool in tip top condition, and equally to service the community and swimmer’s needs.
All our food is prepared daily at the poolside, combining quality ingredients and exciting flavours. Our famous sausage rolls were even mentioned in 'The Daily Telegraph' soon after opening and are well on their way to being more famous than the pool itself.
We only use Cornish free range eggs, Cornish butter, milk & cream and Cornish bacon and sausages.
We make lots of cakes in house and try to cater for a variety of dietary requirements such as gluten free, dairy free, nut free, vegan (though not all in one cake).
We love big bold flavours like our sea salted caramel chocolate brownies with espresso & ground almond, delicate florals such as our elderflower & raspberry polenta cake (GF) and tongue tingling pink grapefruit & pistachio loaf with Campari syrup.
Our café manager Flo, started working with The Jubilee Pool in spring 2017 and organised everything from menu planning to kitchen fitting! She grew up in Cornwall and spent her summer holidays scooping ice cream and later running a busy beachside cafe. Following university and then working in London as Head of Food for recipe kit company ‘Gousto’, she decided she longed for the sea air and set up home in Penzance.
Oona, our chef, joined Flo shortly before the café opened and set to, designing the menus and most importantly, our cake selection as well as helping Flo to recruit our summer team. She also grew up in Falmouth and has spent a number of years making wedding cakes, working as a chef on tall ships, super yachts and ski chalets as well as running a very successful deli in Bristol.
Our new team have already gained an enviable reputation for their delicious refreshments and fabulous food throughout the day. Take a look at our press page to see who has been talking about us, but better still come along and find out for yourselves!
On Tuesday, Friday and Saturdays the café transforms into PIZZALIDO. We serve authentic Sourdough Napolitian Pizza with a variety of delicious toppings, cocktails, local beers and some very delicious wines are available too!
